Silver Spring camps came to an end last week, but we still have two weeks left of Marymount camps in Arlington! Check out the updates below and scroll down for photos!
After learning how to create stories in Scratch, our advanced Scratch campers are exploring how to create their own gaming platform like the classics, Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and so many more. Most students decided to make interactive games or videos. We're looking forward to seeing the final results for games like "Farm Hop" on Friday!
A lot of our Scratch campers are using their knowledge to create walk-through course games. Wicked has also been popular at camp this summer, and one camper this week created characters from Wicked for her game!
Question to ask your budding computer scientist: What kind of game are you building, and what are your sprites doing?
In our Artificial Intelligence camp, your children are applying their coding knowledge in Scratch to build an AI app using machine learning. Throughout the week, campers are learning how to interact with AI tools and how AI impacts our lives.
AI campers began the week by brainstorming ideas for their chatbot. There are so many cool ideas, such as a chatbot that can walk you through cooking recipes. Seeing the final results at the gallery walk will be very exciting.
Our micro:bit Robotics campers are learning how to create inventions by programming micro:bit microcomputers with Microsoft Make:Code. Getting creative, campers will design, build, and code their own inventions. So far, they've been working on building their own robotic pets and will soon be adding various motors and sensors to them.
The micro:bit campers are bursting with creativity! There was so much craft material being used at the start of the week to create animal micro:bits. Students have created dogs, flower boxes, bunnies, and beavers so far!
Question to ask your micro:bit Robotics camper: What robotic invention are you working on creating?
